 I've experienced everything from catcalls to sexism at work and on the streets. I'm in a comfortable space right now. But you will assign me names because I'm not dressed appropriately. Or should I say, how you would like me to be or any woman for that matter? I have innumerous tales of occasions when I have felt objectified, from poor remarks to glaring stares on a trotting street - when my personality and experience are brought down to be female. I am sure that now when you look at me, you are objectifying me. Let me share my experience of the male gaze with you, the first time and the last time I faced it. The First Time I was around 14 or 15 years old when it happened to me for the first time. I had just finished my year ending exams and it was for the time that my parents had allowed me to enjoy the time by myself, outside.
